Celebrating Silvia Reyes: The Matriarch Behind Dano's Dangerous Tequila

Silvia Reyes Valadez, MBA, stands at the helm of Dano's Dangerous Tequila as its Executive Director, a position she has adorned with dedication and innovation. With an extensive background that spans a BBA in Finance from the Technology Institute of Monterrey (ITESM) and an MBA from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, Silvia’s expertise is as rich as the tequila she oversees.

Silvia's day-to-day is a whirlwind of leadership, encompassing management, finance, HR, and close collaboration with production and quality control engineers to craft new tequila profiles and innovations. At the heart of their process lies a commitment to traditional methods and the revered family recipe, ensuring each batch of Dano's Tequila embodies the purity of mature agave and the richness of tradition.

It's the alignment of visions with founders Chris and Dano that has propelled Dano's into a revolutionary space within the tequila industry, especially with the introduction of their uniquely infused tequilas. Despite being a female-led company in a traditionally male-dominated industry, Silvia doesn't see her gender as a differentiator but emphasizes doing things right and fostering an environment where opportunities are not defined by gender. Her journey, marked by initial challenges in negotiating within a male-centric sphere, is a testament to her resilience, gradually earning respect through persistent presence and proven success.

The partnership between Dano’s and Hacienda de Reyes bloomed in 2017 when Chris and Dano sought a hacienda that resonated with their ethos of traditional tequila-making and a shared vision for innovation. Silvia fondly recalls their arrival as a serendipitous moment, marking the beginning of a journey that would introduce Dano's to the US market and beyond.

Professionally, Silvia is fueled by a passion for tequila and a desire to share the uniqueness of the industry with the world. The ceremonial opening of the oven, the aroma of cooked agave, and the scent of aging barrels are daily reminders of her love for her work and the responsibility it entails. Personally, her heart lies with her family, instilling values of independence, good citizenship, and kindness in her daughters.

Beyond her professional accolades, Silvia yearns to be remembered as someone who was always ready to lend a hand, contribute to her community, and lead her team with fairness and strength. Her ultimate goal is to innovate within the tequila industry, setting trends and paving the way for future generations.

As Silvia looks back on her journey, she takes pride in her beautiful family, a thriving company that supports over 70 employees, and the dynamic team that Dano’s and D'Reyes have become. Her story, marked by conversations with strangers and moments of genuine connection, is a reflection of the depth and authenticity she brings to Dano's Dangerous Tequila.
